Polished Concrete Floors in Colorado

Sleek, modern polished concrete for commercial spaces, retail, and modern homes. Low maintenance, high durability.

What Is Polished Concrete?

Polished concrete is a multi-step process that grinds, hones, and polishes a concrete floor to a high-gloss, mirror-like finish using progressively finer diamond tooling. Unlike epoxy or polyaspartic coatings that add a layer on top of concrete, polished concrete transforms the concrete itself into a finished floor surface.

The result is an incredibly durable, low-maintenance floor with a clean modern aesthetic. Polished concrete is the floor of choice for retail showrooms, modern office spaces, restaurants, warehouses, and contemporary homes looking for an industrial-chic look.

Colorado’s dry climate actually makes polished concrete an excellent choice for both commercial and residential applications. With low humidity, concrete floors stay dry and comfortable year-round. The reflective surface brightens interior spaces, reducing the need for artificial lighting. In commercial settings like retail stores and restaurants, polished concrete creates a high-end look without the ongoing maintenance costs of tile, hardwood, or carpet.

The polishing process also densifies and hardens the concrete surface, making it more resistant to staining, dusting, and wear. For warehouses and industrial facilities in Denver, Colorado Springs, and Fort Collins, polished concrete eliminates the dust that bare concrete generates while creating a surface that stands up to forklift traffic and heavy loads without the need for a coating system.

Benefits of Polished Concrete

Extremely Durable

Polished concrete withstands heavy foot traffic, forklifts, and machinery. It gets harder and more resistant over time.

Almost Zero Maintenance

No waxing, no stripping, no recoating. Polished concrete requires only regular sweeping and occasional damp mopping.

Light Reflective

The high-gloss finish reflects light, brightening your space and reducing the need for artificial lighting in large areas.

Eco-Friendly

No coatings, sealers, or chemicals needed. Polished concrete uses the existing slab, making it one of the most sustainable flooring options.

What to Expect

Polished concrete is a more involved process than applying a coating. The floor is ground in multiple passes using progressively finer diamond segments, starting with coarse grits to remove imperfections and ending with fine grits to achieve a high-gloss reflective finish. Between grinding stages, a chemical densifier is applied to harden the concrete and fill its pores.

The area needs to be completely clear before work begins. For commercial spaces, this means moving fixtures, displays, and equipment. The grinding process generates some dust, but our equipment includes integrated vacuum systems that capture most of it. Depending on the size of the floor and the desired gloss level, the process typically takes 2-5 days for a commercial space.

Once the final polish is complete, the floor is ready for immediate use. There is no cure time or waiting period. You can walk on it, place furniture, and resume operations the same day the final pass is completed. Ongoing maintenance is minimal: regular dust mopping and occasional wet mopping with a neutral pH cleaner is all that is needed to maintain the shine for years.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between polished concrete and epoxy?

Polished concrete is the concrete itself, ground and refined to a smooth, glossy finish. Epoxy and polyaspartic coatings are separate materials applied on top of the concrete. Polished concrete has a more natural, industrial-modern look, while coatings offer more color and design options including flake blends and metallics.

Can any concrete floor be polished?

Most concrete floors can be polished, but the final appearance depends on the condition and composition of the concrete. Floors with significant damage, cracks, or patches may not achieve a perfectly uniform look. We assess your slab during the estimate and let you know what to expect based on its current condition.

Is polished concrete slippery?

Polished concrete has a similar slip resistance to standard concrete when dry. It can become slippery when wet, similar to any smooth hard floor. For commercial applications where wet conditions are a concern, we can stop at a lower gloss level or apply an anti-slip treatment to improve traction.

How long does polished concrete last?

Polished concrete lasts the lifetime of the building with proper maintenance. Unlike coatings that eventually need to be reapplied, polished concrete is the concrete itself. The shine can be refreshed with a maintenance polish every few years if desired, but the floor remains functional indefinitely.

Is polished concrete good for residential homes?

Yes. Polished concrete works well in modern and contemporary homes, especially in open-concept living areas, basements, and loft-style spaces. It pairs well with radiant floor heating systems and is compatible with area rugs for added warmth in living areas. For homeowners who prefer more color options or a warmer look, our epoxy and polyaspartic coating systems offer a wider range of finishes.

How much does polished concrete cost?

Pricing depends on the size of the floor, the current condition of the concrete, and the desired level of polish (matte, satin, or high-gloss). Polished concrete is competitive with other premium flooring options and has significantly lower lifetime costs due to minimal maintenance. Contact us for a free estimate.
